SQL*LIMS QM connector for use with SAP - QM
Extends SAP QM into a full featured LIMS
The SAP Quality Management (QM) module is responsible for maintaining, coordinating and communicating product quality information throughout the enterprise while SQL*LIMS is responsible for the collection, manipulation, managing and communicating of quality data. The two systems when used together can be very powerful.
This certification also meets the SAP requirements for connecting SQL*LIMS to the mySAP.com platform, making SQL*LIMS one of the few selected LIMS vendors to receive a mySAP.com interface certificate.
QM maintains inspection plans with product information, test definitions and quality specification limits. With the help of other SAP modules, QM initiates quality inspections and transfers all of this information dynamically to SQL*LIMS. SQL*LIMS will then process these quality inspections through laboratory specific workflows and record quality data in greater detail and under more stringent control than QM is capable of. When released by the laboratory, summarized results and statuses are uploaded from SQL*LIMS to QM.
The SQL*LIMS SAP Connector has implemented the complete library of SAP’s QM-IDI (inspection data interface) including inspection points for continuous monitoring. The SQL*LIMS SAP Connector is certified by SAP for all SAP R/3 versions including ERP Central Component (ECC) versions 5.0 and 6.0. This provides one of the most comprehensive LIMS interfaces to SAP on the market today.
Details matter between SQL*LIMS Lot Manager and SAP QM
The SQL*LIMS Lot Manager maintains extensive detail concerning the inspection lots, multi-level testing specifications, and sample workflow providing a powerful complementary interface.
QM creates inspection lots based on inspection plans and defines the expected operations (samples) and inspection characteristics (results). The definition and creation of in-process and sub-lot characteristics (expected results) is lacking. SQL*LIMS SAP Connector together with SQL*LIMS Lot Manager extends the functionality of SAP by providing additional result information at the sub-lot and stage level, providing the ability to view and correct in-process excursions, make better informed manufacturing decisions, and release partial lots.
To allow greater flexibility and independence to meet business needs, SQL*LIMS SAP Connector provides a unique mapping tool that allows the translation between the fixed format of QM and the flexible, lab specific terminology of SQL*LIMS.

The SQL*LIMS ERP Connector provides a standard data structure for electronic data interchange (EDI) between SQL*LIMS and SAP. This message based interface supports all SAP modules as well as non-SAP systems. This standard SQL*LIMS tool can make use of SAP IDoc transactions via SAP NetWeaver to communicate openly with SAP enterprise business applications.
